Patient Administrative Specialist

This is a Full-time position in Monterey, CA posted June 30, 2021.

One of the leading surgical providers is hiring a Patient Administrative Specialist.

JOB SUMMARY: The Patient Administrative Specialist serves as a key representative to patients and their family members.

Serves as facility telephone operator and warmly greets patients with necessary admitting paperwork.

Prepares the facilitys records for upcoming patients, completes patient follow-up documentation and is responsible for the accuracy and confidentiality of medical charts.

Each Patient Administrative Specialist is responsible for delivering positive and professional customer service to each patient and/or their family member.

Essential responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Communication:
Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner Promotes effective communication among the facilitys clinical areas, and business offices
Safety/risk-management program:
Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy/procedure noncompliance to the safety officer or other designated person
Professional competence:
Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences Shares knowledge gained in continuing education with staff Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities Welcomes suggestions and recommendations
Job Responsibilities:
Delivers consistently strong customer service to each Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center patient Responsible for opening/closing of facility based on designated work shift Responsible for answering and routing incoming calls to appropriate staff members Reviews all necessary paperwork for admission with patients and verifies accuracy of patients demographics, insurance identification number and company name/address Document name and telephone number of responsible party driving the patient home after surgery Responsible for maintaining open communication with nursing staff in regards to patients admission, concerns, cancellations, new changes and patient pre/postoperative care status with family members or ride Prepares medical record chart by gathering all necessary documents prior to surgery, (Surgeon Orders, History and Physical, Labs, EKG, Insurance Cards and Demographics, etc.) in an appropriate order per facility policy

Required Education, Experience, Abilities and Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of progressive patient front desk support experience Ability to cover at all 5 Center locations, including Salinas and Capitola, when needed Demonstrated excellence in customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication Ability to work independently with minimal instructions Strong interpersonal, operational and organizational skills with commitment to accuracy, detail, follow-up and follow-through.

Ability to multi task Proficient in MS word, Excel and Outlook
