Chief Mechanical Engineer (Facilities)

This is a Full-time position in Menlo Park, CA posted November 14, 2020.

Our client operates a scientific research facility located in the PENINSULA OF THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. They are currently in need of aCHIEF MECHANICAL ENGINEER who will

* be responsible for operations, maintenance, repair, and overall life cycle management of the facilitys Cooling Towers, Chilled Water, Hot Water, Compressed Air, Low Conductivity Water, Boilers, HVAC, and Natural Gas systems
* manage 5 mechanical engineers and planners, and 2 trades/craft supervisors, who in turn manage mechanics, plumbers, and HVAC technicians (approximately 17 people).
* Please Note due to COVID-19 related curtailment of on-site activities, the job duties for this position will be required to be performed from home until full site-access is restored.


* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other appropriate technical area, or combination of technical education, training, and experience.
* 10+ years of extensive relevant professional and managerial experience in an environment with a variety of building types.
* Technical knowledge of best practices in facilities management discipline.
* Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets and service contracts.
* Demonstrated experience planning, developing, and implementing programs.
* Demonstrated experience understanding and applying relevant codes, regulations, and processes.
* Experience in the following technical, leadership and operational aspect is required:
* Understanding and application of federal occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA) and processes to protect employees, subcontractors, and the environment while managing facilities and operations.
* Demonstrated ability to manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to ensure facility operations and equipment reliability.
* Demonstrated understanding and application of SCADA, ALC, PLC, DDC, and ML/AI in the management of the relevant maintenance programs.
