Designer – Modular construction


This is a Contract position in Bakersfield, CA posted September 19, 2020.

The Building Information Modeling Designer is based in Bakersfield, CA and reports to the Design Manager.

Primarily responsible to create detailed, virtual construction shop drawings to ensure all projects are completed accurately and timely, according to bid specifications and standards to maintain profitability by adhering to budget and value engineering principles.

This position is also responsible to teach and mentor the Design team on Revit use and how to apply compliance and code requirements to virtual construction drawings that will are used for estimation, scheduling, planning and construction for all projects.

Essential Functions: Required to be proficient using Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360 (design and field), and Navisworks.

Required to be familiar and keep current on building code changes, DSA (Division of State Architect) regulations, and technical document requirements.

Develop and maintain the company Virtual Design and Construction models and be the hub for all BIM 360 contacts and processes.

Develop Virtual Design and Construction Process: Engineering methods, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Visualization, risk analysis, business analysis and production strategy development.

Work with Project Managers, QA/QC, and Estimating to establish buildable model to meet our standard of quality prior to progressing.

Create and maintain a weekly log of all changes made, by project, during the VDC phase and send to QA/QC.

Bring technical expertise for continuous development and improvement of Virtual Design and Construction.

Be willing to teach and mentor Design team members on compliance and code requirements and Revit.

Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management, Industrial Engineering or related degree AND two (2) years related experience in same field of work.

OR Associates in Architecture or Industrial Drafting AND four (4) years related experience in same field of work in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree.

OR Six (6) years of substantially similar work experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree.

Ability to work independently and assertively.

Must have working knowledge of Construction and building material.

Be available and responsive, balancing the needs of the company.

Must be detail-focused, accurate and well organized.

Have exceptional planning and time management skills.

Demonstrate superior presentation.

Ability to succinctly communicate cross-functionally with internal and external contacts.

Possess the ability to articulate and present creative and innovative ideas.

Must have the ability to listen to critiques, provide input, feedback, and take measures for continuous improvements.
