QUALCOMM Incorporated
Company:Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.Job Area:Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Camera EngineeringJob Overview:Qualcomm is a company of inventors that unlocked 5G ushering in an age of rapid acceleration in connectivity and new possibilities that will transform industries, create jobs, and enrich lives.
But this is just the beginning.
It takes inventive minds with diverse skills, backgrounds, and cultures to transform 5Gs potential into world-changing technologies and products.
This is the Invention Age and this is where you come in.GENERAL SUMMARY:Researches, designs, develops, implements, and verifies complex camera systems and HW or FW tasks (including Camera Image Signal Processor (ISP), 3A (AWB, AEC, AF), Image Quality, Features, Tuning Tools), algorithms, features, logic design, modeling, and design verification.
Performs architecture, IQ modules, algorithm and feature decomposition to drive requirements and specifications for hardware development.
Ensures image quality, systems performance, ISP area and power metrics are met.The responsibilities of this role include:Working independently with little supervision.Providing some supervision/guidance to others.Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.Using verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question; may require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.Working within prescribed budget and resources.Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.G., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).Completing most tasks with multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.Exercising substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches maybe taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; advanced data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.Occasionally participating in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations. The responsibilities of this role do not include:Supervising direct reports.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Leverages understanding of most camera processing pipeline details, including how blocks affect the pipeline, and deep knowledge of multiple blocks to work independently on ill-defined tasks related to multiple functions or blocks, or one section of the camera pipeline, throughout the design cycle.Collaborates with cross-functional teams to debug complex issues at a block/system level; researches new tools for debugging.Works to address customer/product requirements in functionality and results; understands how to translate customer/product needs into task work.Proposes and implements changes and improvements to existing and/or new features, models, or architecture to improve performance or efficiency.Collaborates with team members and other teams across organizations and areas on the design, development, and optimization of camera systems, hardware, and/or software.Displays deep knowledge in a specific area; acquires advanced knowledge of industry trends, and/or competitors’ products, and advances in various engineering fields related to camera products; shares knowledge with others on their team and helps less experienced engineers understand and apply advanced concepts.Writes clear and detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions for complex projects to guide users and/or customers to use or implement output.Identifies and defines narrowly defined process improvements (e.G., scripts, workflows, new tools).REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: (All competencies below are required upon entry)Analytical Skills: The ability to collect information and identify fundamental patterns/trends in data.
This includes the ability to gather, integrate, and interpret information from several sources.Building Trusting Relationships: The ability to build trusting, collaborative relationships and rapport with different types of people and businesses.
