” Reporting directly to the Market President with a matrix reporting relationship to the Care Division Medical Officer, the Medical Officer (MO) has clinical leadership responsibility for the full continuum of care in all areas served within the Adventist Health market.

Leads all medical related activities within a designated area.

Provides strategic and operational direction for the delivery of Adventist Health’s clinical care model and will work in close partnership with key clinical and operational leaders to ensure the highest level of patient safety and care.

The MO serves as the senior physician leader in the market, with the role spanning medical and clinical staff alignment and engagement, market strategy, finance and operations-related topics.

Leadership activities include, but are not limited to: bringing the clinical voice forward, being the patient advocate, acting as a subject matter expert for clinical staff and administration, overseeing care transformation initiatives directed by clinical cabinets.

Leads the roll out of local initiatives within the market, and ensuring the overall continuous quality improvement of care delivery.

The MO will also focus on mentoring and developing the existing and future physician and clinical leadership across the market.

Essential Functions: Executes on care transformation plans around the 6 initiatives: clinical leadership, high reliability organization, care redesign, population health, patient experience/engagement and clinical workforce.

Leads efforts to roll-out the evidence-based standard of care, improve clinical outcomes, and disseminate best practices for the market in accordance with the care transformation initiatives.

Provides oversight and assistance to the Chief of Staff, members of the Medical Executive Committee, and the Medical Staff to assist them in their roles and to maximize the market’s culture of patient safety and quality.

Acts as a primary clinician liaison to the senior leadership team, Patient Safety and Quality related committees, and the community.

Facilitates physician leadership development and education.

Leads the market quality/patient safety staff in accordance with care transformation initiatives.

Facilitates collegial and effective working relations with all clinicians (e.g., physicians, nurses, physician-assistants, advanced nurse practitioners, and other medical staff members).

Provides leadership to improve physician alignment and patient satisfaction.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Licenses Doctor of Medicine (MD) or (DO): Required Board Certified Physician: Required State medical board licensed: Required Refer to the Required Licenses and Certifications list for additional job and/or unit specific requirements.

Required Skills: Knowledge of physician practice delivery models, business operations and strategic planning.

Strong knowledge quality and safety regulations, standards and best practices in health care and primary and preventative care medicine.

Ability to pursue multiple goals and facilitate change in a dynamic work environment.

Working and applied knowledge in LEAN, high reliability, outcome measurement, and other performance improvement methodology.

Knowledge of EMR systems and their integration into quality data gathering and improvement processes.
