Complex components include nickel base, titanium, stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steels with parts ranging in size from 2” OD – 120” OD.Position Summary: Level One: At the direction of the Quality manager, level one quality inspectors train to develop the ability to use predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to perform in-process and completed inspection of products such as machined parts, mechanical assemblies, processed parts and purchased standard hardware.

They also perform verifications of part identification and configurations.

Level one quality inspectors will arrange inspection queues to identify priority work.

In addition, they will identify and segregate non-conforming product using basic knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing methods per ASME 14.5, and common inspection measuring equipment including, but not limited to, surface plates, micrometers, height gages, radius gages, protractors, profilometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators as necessary to complete assignments.

Level one quality inspectors will demonstrate blueprint reading and basic math skills, basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to use MRP or ERP systems after instruction.

Typically, 0-1 years of experience.Level Two: Building upon level one, while working under the supervision of a higher level employee, level two inspectors work from blueprints, digital models and customer specifications to identify and segregate non-conforming product using proficient knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing methods per ASME 14.5, and common inspection measuring equipment.

They may also demonstrate basic competency in operating Coordinate Measuring Machines/Scanners as necessary to complete assignments and will also receive an introduction to AS9102 processes to an awareness level.

Level two quality inspectors may also be expected to demonstrate proficiency in manipulating digital models in CATIA.

Level two inspectors typically work as receiving inspectors, final inspectors or entry-level CMM inspectors.

Typically, 2-3 years of experience.Level Three: Building upon level two, level three quality inspectors will demonstrate extensive knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods per ASME 14.5.

They will also demonstrate expert level blueprint reading and manufacturing/inspection related math skills.

They will either serve as SMEs for mechanical, assembly or CMM inspection.

These inspectors read and interpret results of inspections to determine product conformance and will have enough knowledge of manufacturing processes to provide detailed feedback on ways to improve product quality.

These inspectors work independently and seek little guidance from higher level employees.

They will also demonstrate advanced knowledge in AS9102 reporting, including the ability to create reports independently.

Typically, 4-6 years of experience.Level Four: Building upon level three, level four quality inspectors work without supervision and will demonstrate expert understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods per ASME 14.5.

They will also demonstrate expert level blueprint reading and manufacturing/inspection related math skills and the ability to program Coordinate Measuring Machines/Scanners (CMM).

In addition, they will demonstrate the ability to review and critique AS9102 reports.

Level four inspectors may be expected to provide leadership and assistance to lower level inspectors as well as provide input to creating new inspection processes.

Typically, 5+ years of experience.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

• Approve and reject incoming, in-process and finished products by confirming customer specifications
• Conduct visual and measurement tests using appropriate equipment and methods
• Performs complete inspection by measuring dimensions, such as length, height, and distance, between reference points, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, and CMM, to ensure product meets specifications
• Able to locate reference point(s) on part and measure dimension such as angle, arc, and radii, using combinations of aids, such as surface plate parallel bars, angle plates, gage blocks, gage pins, V-blocks, sine bars, and precision measuring instruments such as height gages
• Maintain AS9100 standards and requirements.

• Contribute to incident data and problem-solving methods in MRB process.

• Participate in process improvement teams to increase inspection efficiency.
