VP of Engineering Operations


This is a Contract position in Foster City, CA posted October 28, 2020.

We are looking for a Vice President of Engineering responsible for Engineering Operations. You should be passionate about building highly efficient operations and have experience with quality assurance for performance, systems integration, and reliability issues of large 24×7 systems. Presentation, communication, and leadership skills are essential.

The ideal profile requires several years of experience with some combination of software quality, engineering/cloud operations roles with increasing and complex levels of responsibilities, starting with hands-on roles as an individual contributor. This candidate sees the success of the team as their personal success and is willing to roll up their sleeves and assist the team and customer success teams in resolving critical product issues.

The position report to the EVP of Engineering. Direct reports will include Directors/Managers.


  • Depth with software quality, process improvement, and project management.
  • Passionate about cloud infrastructure, site reliability, 24×7 global issues management
  • Lead and define processes, technologies, and tools to ensure business SLA
  • Ability to build, manage, and execute Quality Improvement Programs for SaaS and Cloud
  • Prior record of implementing engineering fundamentals ‘” continuous integration, automation, and managing production cloud environments for 100 ‘s of customers
  • Clear reporting on the health and progress of the service
  • Automation tools and processes, customer escalations management

Project & Process

  • Work with customer success teams to resolve critical customer issues and implement learnings into process or test improvements
  • Manage conflicting priorities with a clear understanding of urgencies
  • Ownership for end-to-end site availability and performance, including test/deployment automation
  • Spend management for cloud and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to understand deployment practices and processes and work towards iteratively improving the release pipeline to ensure a highly resilient deployment strategy


  • Managed a group of 50+ including directors, managers, and engineers in the United States and International locations
  • Attract, hire, and retain top talent
  • Performance assessment, mentorship, and performance improvement, Salary adjustments (bonus, raises, etc.)


  • Soft skills to work and cooperate with various departments and leaders in the company,
  • Up ‘” Communicating status of your team up your management chain
  • Across ‘” Communicating with peers and other functional groups across the organization, build relationships and work cooperatively with other stakeholders
  • Down ‘” Ability to effectively lead and motivate the team. Communicate news, decisions to your team while ensuring cohesiveness within the team and the broader organization. Keep everyone in the know.
